Sue Buel Elementary School is the district's newest school, built with funds from the construction bond passed by the community in 2006. Buel is a highly efficient "green" school that earned the first LEED for Schools Gold certification in the state by the U.S. Green Building Council. Columbus Elementary School, constructed in 1995, is the third school building on the school site. The original school was built in 1892, the brick building that replaced it was damaged beyond repair in the 1993 earthquake.
